-The UTA at WAS and BOS at PHI games have been cancelled. Additionally, FanDuel is not including the NYK at CHA game in their slate due to weather concerns.
Point Guard – Our featured site for the point guard position is FanDuel
Damian Lillard (POR) – Lillard certainly carries blowout risk this evening (POR -12 at home), but it’s risk we’re willing to take due to Lillard’s high volume (offense is so dependent on him that a blowout likely means he’s played really well) and the awesome matchup. Lillard takes on a Lakers team that ranks dead last in defensive efficiency against point guards and top half of the league in pace. It’s no surprise that the Portland offense revolves around Lillard, who currently boasts career highs in usage rate (31.1), assist rate (34.4) and PER (21.2). Also note that Lillard has played under 30 minutes just twice all season long (one a 29 minute outing and the other he left due to injury). In two games against the Lakers, Lillard has recorded 41.3 and 60.7 FanDuel points this season. He’s one of several very strong point guard values available.
Next in line:
Kemba Walker (CHA) – Walker rates as a similar value to Lillard in our model, as his volume has been tremendous in games Batum has not played (33.0 usage rate, 27.9 assist rate, 39.7 minutes per game). Throw in a bump for playing at home, and Walker has a tremendous ceiling (something he’s displayed with outings of 75.8 and 69.9 in his last three games). However, there’s some risk. A growing price tag, a tough matchup, playing on the second night of a back to back (46 minutes in overtime last night), and a reliance on very heavy volume all point towards downside as well. On sites Walker is available, we consider him a great tournament play and a cheaper cash game pivot off of Lillard, but we’d prefer to pay up for Lillard if possible. Note that Walker is not available on FanDuel tonight.
