Daily Fantasy Rundown –January 8th, 2015

Welcome to Thursday’s edition of the Daily Fantasy Rundown with “leonem” and “dinkpiece”.  Each day throughout the NBA season our daily NBA scouting reports will highlight the best top, value and cheap plays of the day based on the Daily Fantasy Industry’s pricing for salary cap games.  Our analysis will help you consistently build winning rosters over the long run.

Short Slate Disclaimer:

Nights when the schedule typically ranges from two to four games we refer to as a short slate and that will result in heavy overlap around the industry. The more overlap there is, the smaller the margin for error and the more variance that is introduced into the results. We understand that the appeal of Daily Fantasy is the ability to start fresh each day, but we recommend either avoiding most short slates altogether or playing a significantly reduced portion of your bankroll.

Top Play:

Kyle Lowry (TOR) – I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this scenario before but tonight’s slate features three games that are expected to have blowout risk. Therefore, we’re going to have to focus more on ceilings rather than floors. At Lowry’s current price point, he’s met or at least has come close to meeting value in six out of the last ten games. Since DeMar DeRozan continues to be out, Lowry’s responsibilities on the offensive end continue to remain high (30.7 percent usage rate/29.4 assist rate with DeRozan off the floor; 27 percent usage rate/28.3 percent assist rate with DeRozan on the floor). The Hornets represent a good matchup for Lowry (ranked 24th in defensive efficiency against point guards). If your’re playing cash games tonight, it makes sense to roster Lowry at the point guard position (Lowry, Harden and Aldridge are the top overall plays).
