Welcome to the 2019 RBC Canadian Open Golf Picks and Pro-Tip
News and Notes
The RBC Canadian Open will be played at Hamilton Golf and Country Club this week – a Par 70 course that measures a shade under 7000 yards long. The course last hosted this event in 2006 and 2012, so course history for this year’s field will be limited making it a less relevant topic for discussion. DFS players who lean heavily on course history should steer clear this week, as the course will be one of the shorter courses on tour in par adjusted distance and play much differently than bomber-friendly Canadian Opens of years past.
In 2012, Scott Piercy won the event with a score of 17-under par and that year it was a fairly neutral course from a course fit perspective. The event saw more deviation in scores coming from Strokes Gained Putting (given the overall low scoring environment) but didn’t offer much as far as splits between off of the tee and approach play, and anecdotally several golfers commented that they only hit driver on 5-6 holes and it was one of the shorter courses on tour in par adjusted distance.
