Welcome to the 2019 RSM Classic Fantasy Picks and Pro-Tip
News and Notes
Sea Island will host the 2019 RSM Classic again where the Seaside and Plantation Courses will host this week’s event. The Seaside Course plays as a Par 70 at 7005 yards and the Plantation Course plays as a Par 72 at 7058 yards. Each golfer will play the Plantation Course once and the Seaside Course will host both weekend rounds for those who make the cut.
From a Showdown perspective, this opens up an edge as the Plantation course generally features more fantasy scoring. For the past few seasons, the Plantation Course has had higher eagle rates and birdie rates and produced more DraftKings scoring. While you should still take overall golfer skill into account boosting players who are playing the Plantation Course is a solid starting point, particularly if the field does not adapt. However, the scoring is close enough that if you see massive Plantation ownership in R1 you could consider mixing in low owned Seaside golfers in R2.
The closest wind tower shows no discernible difference in the weather forecast.
Course Fit and Course History
The Seaside Course does offer shotlink data and leveraging that we can see that the course over-indexed slightly towards Off the Tee and Putting compared to the typical PGATOUR events with a slightly lower emphasis on strokes gained approach driving variation in scores. The scoring conditions should be friendly and a hot putter will be required to contend this week.
The golfers with the best form in the field are highlighted below with their most recent round in parenthesis:
- Harris English 3-6-33-4-5 (11/17)
- Billy Horschel 4-64-6-24-8
