Welcome to the 2019 Zozo Championship DraftKings Fantasy Picks and Pro-Tip,
News and Notes
The 2019 Zozo Championship is this week’s event as the cash grab season rolls along with the Accordia Golf Narashino Country club hosting this week’s event. The course is a Par 70 layout that measures just over 7,000 yards long making it one of the shorter courses on tour in par adjusted distance. This is the first event at this course and other than the fact that it is short and brings the entire field into play there is mostly just speculation at whom the course will suit and narratives spun to make more compelling content. I personally think ignoring those and focusing mostly on leverage in tournaments and macro roster construction is the right way to go but if I had a gut “course fit” it would be the RBC-esque course setups.
Tiger Woods will make his debut this week, while Rory McIlroy will also tee it up for the first time since September 29th.
This writeup will be short and sweet as I don’t have a ton of value to add on top of our projections.
While Rory and Tiger haven’t logged recent rounds, here are the players leading into this event with the strongest recent form with their most recent round in parenthesis:
- Justin Thomas 12-1-3-4-1 (10/20)
- Rory McIlroy 19-1-2-9-26 (9/29)
- Adam Scott 5-9-6-17-42 (10/6)
- Hideki Matsuyama 3-9-CUT-16-3 (10/20)
- Tony Finau 4-7-51-10-9 (10/6)
For the most part, the current form seems pretty priced in with these golfers occupying several of the top priced spots. The lone exception is perhaps Tony Finau who is priced at just $9200 and one of the better values in the DataGolf model.
