Welcome to the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational Fantasy Picks and Pro-Tip
News and Notes
The 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational will be played at Bay Hill as the Florida swing rolls on. Bay Hill is a Par 72 at 7454 yards long that played as the 12th longest on tour last year in par adjusted distance and features the 7th narrowest fairways on tour. The 120-man invitational field will be tested on what played as the 9th most difficult course on tour during the 2019 season.
Last week, the course fit information was tough to decipher and suggested a lot of randomness in the event, while this week’s at Bay Hill leans directly into two things PGA DFS players love – strong off the tee (OTT) play and running hot with the putter. Historically, Bay Hill has benefited those who can drive it both long and accurate, with less importance on 2nd shots or around the green play.
Edit: The closest wind tower is near Orlando Airport. There may be a small one-round advantage to the Thurs AM wave but at least right now it seems more relevant for Showdown or First Round Leader bets.
Edit 2: Reviewing an alternate wind site shows a bit stronger gap between the waves. With a crude model, the Th AM may have a 6MPH sustained wind benefit across two days.
PGA DFS is as much a balance of projection and ownership as it is finding the right plays. These concepts were covered in our PGA DFS Strategy Guide which should be referenced throughout the season as you look to hone in your strategy.
