Match Day 24 of the EPL season is here. It’s been a few weeks since my last write up. I’m sure you all that read my write ups know me by now. For the new people, I’m  Jerzeydevil, and have been doing the write DFS EPL write ups since week 1. So lets get to my weekly write up for you great soccer fans once again. The write up this week is for the EPL games on Feb 1st over at StatClash. They have a great list of games that you can choose from, so head over and check them out.

Keepers:

TIM HOWARD (Everton) $22.00  Going to start off with one keeper that I have always liked. Howard has had a great career and is still getting it done for Everton. Howard will be looking for a nice rebound game this week after a bad game in his last time out. In that game, Howard let in 4 goals and had 5 saves for a lousy 2 points. On Saturday Everton is home playing Aston Villa. This should be an entertaining game to watch. I feel Everton will do enough to get Howard the win this week.

HUGO LLORIS (Tottenham) $22.00 I have used Lloris a handful of times this year. He had a few great games and few bad ones. I look at the game this week and Lloris a lot. I know he had a terrible game on the Jan 26th as he had -2 points. I know most might not play him as Tottenham is on the road playing Hull City. Hull City has been so up and down this year. One great game followed by a bad game. Both teams are coming off of losses in their last games. I feel Tottenham and Lloris will come up big and get the road victory this week.

ARTUR BORUC (Southampton) $23.50  I’m going with another keeper that is on the road again. But once again I like Boruc in this matchup. Southampton is coming off a big 2-2 draw against Arsenal in their last game. In Boruc’s last 5 games he is unbeaten with a 3-0-2 record. Southampton is playing away at Fulham which is only 1 point from being in last place in the EPL. I don’t think even being at home is going to help them out, that is why i like Boruc to keep his streak going.

Defenders:

LEIGHTON BAINES (Everton) $17.50  I’ll tell ya, defender’s  have been tough to find this year. Just not many getting high points for people. So I have been happy with defenders that get positive points. When looking at Baines and Everton this week, he should be able to do that for us. 4 games ago Baines did score a goal and got double digit points. After that it’s been 1 assist and a bunch of crosses and corner kicks. This should be a game where Baines can get positive points playing at home against Aston Villa.

PATRICE EVRA (Manchester United) $16.00  I haven’t had Evra in a write up since like week 1 or 2. The reason for that is the way Manchester United has played this year. Don’t really trust United but since they have Van Persie back they should get rolling again. Evra has managed to get positive points in his last 5 games. Although United is on the road this weekend, I still feel good that they can beat Stoke City. Stoke City has lost 4 in a row. Look for United to get the win and Evra to have positive points.

Midfield:

ADAM LALLANA (Southampton) $18.00  Going to start off with a midfielder that has been playing some good soccer of late. Lallana has been helping out the strikers with some scoring lately, recording 2 goals and an mixing in an assist as well in his last 5 games. In his last game out he had a goal and 8 crosses. Like I said earlier, I know Southampton is on the road but they are playing Fulham which is 1 point away from being in dead last.

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN (Tottenham) $18.50  How can I leave Eriksen out of my lineup? He has been so hot lately. In his last 5 games? 2 goals, 3 assist, 5 shots on goal, 22 crosses, and 16 corners. Those are some pretty good stats for just 5 games. Eriksen has been playing great ball and should keep it going this weekend. Tottenham is on the road at Hull City, but I know they will turn it around after the whooping they took to Manchester City in their last game.

ADAM JOHNSON (Sunderland) $16.00 I have saved the best midfielder for last. Talk about a player that has been on fire of late. Johnson has been lighting up the back of the net. In his last 5 games he has scored 5 goals. He also has 3 assist, 10 crosses, and 6 corners. This week Sunderland is at Newcastle. Now, I don’t know if they can win the game, but that doesn’t matter in DFS!  I’m expecting a great match that should produce goals. This is the reason I love Johnson in the lineup.

Strikers:

ROBIN VAN PERSIE (Manchester United) $21.00  RVP is back in the lineup and that is why I’m rolling with him. In his 1st game back on Jan 28th RVP scored a goal in helping United beat Cardiff City 2-0. When RVP is healthy he is one of the finest strikers in the game. In this weekends game United travels to Stoke City. Stoke has lost 4 games in a row and aren’t playing that well right now. With RVP back look for United to start rolling again while RVP leads the way.

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR (Tottenham) $20.00  Here is a striker that has been stepping it up lately for his team. Adebayor has 3 goals, 3 assist, 5 shots on goal, and 8 crosses in his last 5 games. I know Tottenham is going to get back in the win column after the humiliating loss they took this past week to Manchester City. If Adebayor can score and the defense step it up this week, I can see Tottenham leaving Hull City with a win.

CHRISTIAN BENTEKE (Aston Villa) $18.00  With my last striker I’m taking a bit of a chance. Its not about Benteke, it’s who Aston Villa plays and they are on the road. Benteke has been on fire in his last 5 games. He has scored 3 straight goals in the last 3 games. In his last game Benteke had a goal and an assist in helping Aston Villa win a shootout against West Brom. Aston Villa travels to Everton this weekend and even with being on the road, I feel they can score a goal. Hopefully Benteke will be that goal scorer.

Here is the scoring system that StatClash uses. I have been asked why I list some of the stats that I do because readers felt they didn’t get points for some of them, but they do.  Check it…
