Week 14 of the EPL season is upon us and with that,  I’m back.  Jerzeydevil here with my weekly write up for you great soccer fans. The write up this week is for the EPL to SB Satellite (Step 1) over at StatClash.  Remember you don’t have to join that contest, there are plenty of other games on the board at this time.  It’s very clear that if you are an EPL fan, or just a soccer fan in general, these guys have you covered every single weekend of action.  So make sure you’re following these selections and have some skin in the game each Saturday morning.

Remember you don’t have to join that contest, there are many other games on the board.

Keepers:

TIM HOWARD (Everton) $21.75  Looking back at some of my write ups, I didn’t see Howard in any of them. Don’t know how I have left out the great American keeper Howard. Howard had a nice streak of solid fantasy points going until Nov 23rd when he only managed 3 points. Howard let in 3 goals and had 3 saves in a draw against Liverpool. Howard has stepped it up in the last 2 weeks with great performances. Everton will need a strong showing from Howard if they have a chance to beat Arsenal this week.

BRAD GUZAN: (Aston Villa) $21.50  I had Guzan in a write up early in the season and he let me down with a bad game. After looking at all the match-ups this week, I like him on the road against Fulham. In his last game Guzan had a decent day with 7 saves and the win to get him 15 points. Even with being on the road, I still feel Guzan can get the win with some saves. Fulham is struggling badly right now, they have lost their last 5 games.

BOAZ MYHILL: (West Brom) $20.00  I probably wouldn’t have Myhill on my list most of the time. This week is an exception. West Brom is playing Norwich at home and they should be able to get the job done. Myhill’s last game is one he wants to forget about quickly. He let up 3 goals and recorded only 1 save in the loss to Man City. Look for Myhill to have a nice rebound game this weekend.

Defenders:

PER MERTESACKER (ARSENAL) $14.50  I’m backing an Arsenal defender once again. Admittedly, last time I did, he didn’t do well. Mertesacker is usually a solid German defender. He is one of those defenders that can go out and get the job done with no questions asked every week. A few weeks ago when the EPL was on break for World Cup Qualifying and friendlies, Mertesacker scored for Germany when they defeated England 1-0. Arsenal is at home this week playing an important game against Everton and they will need Mertesacker on top of his game.

ALEKSANDAR KOLAVOR (Manchester City) $17.00  Last week Kolavor had a great game on defense for Manchester City as they took down West Brom 3-2. In that game Kolavor had 2 assists and 3 crosses recorded in the stat book. That is what you are looking for out of a defender. This week i’m hoping he keeps it rolling as City is on the road against Southampton.

PATRICE EVRA (Manchester United) $16.75 Here is another defender that had a good day in his last time out. Evra had 2 crosses and 2 shots on goal for United in their heartbreaking loss to Everton last week. This week United is at home against Newcastle. At this point in the season no one expected to see United in 9th place and Newcastle ahead of them at 7th. United needs the defenders to start playing better and I feel you will see that this weekend.

Midfield:

MESUT OZIL (Arsenal) $22.00  Ozil had a good start to the season – and since, he’s been up and down. Its seems he is starting to pick it up once again. In his last 5 games 3 of them were decent fantasy points for a midfielder. In his last game Ozil scored with 2 shots on goal. The game before that he recorded 2 assist. I like what i’m starting to see in him again. Arsenal is at home against Everton and it should be a great game for Ozil to step it for his team.

EDEN HAZARD (Chelsea) $20.50  Hazard has been one of the best midfielders all season long. When is comes to fantasy points most people have him in their line up and you can’t blame them. In Hazard’s last game he had 2 goals, 1 assist, and 4 shots on goal. Over his last 5 games he has 3 goals, 4 assist and 6 shots on goal. These stats are why he is in my line up this week as Chelsea travels to Stoke City for their game.

YAYA TOURE (Manchester City) $18.50  Toure is one midfielder I enjoy to watch. He has so much skill and can be explosive at times. Toure showed that in his last match, recording 2 goals for City as they held on for the victory against West Brom. Toure has 3 goals, 2 assist on 4 shots on goal over his last 5 games. City will need everything Toure can give them this week as they are on the road against Southampton, which are very good at home.

Strikers:

LUIS SUAREZ (Liverpool) $24.50  You know I have had Suarez in my write ups a few times this season. There is great reason for that. He is the BEST STRIKER in the game right now. He has been a force for Liverpool. Seems like no one can slow him down. In his last game he scored 4 goals and had the assist on the other goal. 7 goals in his last 5 games is just awesome. With Liverpool at home this week against a bad West Ham team it won’t surprise me at all to see Suarez with a goal or 2. Make sure you have him in there.

SERGIO AGUERO (Manchester City) $22.50  Here is another striker that has been great over his last 5 games. Yeah, he might not have the numbers that Suarez has, but i’ll have Aguero in my lineup. Aguero scored in just 9 minutes in his last game for City. He has 4 goals, 3 assist in his last 5 games. As I mentioned earlier, City is on the road against Southampton and they will need Aguero to be on top of his game.

WAYNE ROONEY (Manchester United) $22.00  Rooney is getting another shot from me. The one time I mentioned him, he was a zero – not even a shot on goal. But since then he has been playing very good soccer. On Dec 1st Rooney scored 2 goals, the 2nd one was the most important in the 57th minute that tied the game (United ended the game with a draw). In their last game, United lost to Everton 1-0. I don’t think your going to see that this week. I believe Rooney will get back in the groove to lead United over Newcastle this weekend.

This concludes this weekends writeup. As always, I hope you find it helpful when putting your team together. Good luck & enjoy your weekend of EPL DFS at StatClash!! -JD
