What up everyone, JerzeyDevil here ready to discuss this weeks action in the EPL. Last week was a very interesting week in the EPL. We saw Manchester United and City both go down – both were upsets, but United losing at home to West Brom was unbelievable. In last weeks game of the week, Tottenham couldn’t get it done at home, but they did manage to get the draw and earn a point. Arsenal won and with that they find themselves atop of the EPL with 15 points. Liverpool & Tottenham are in 2nd and 3rd with 13 points followed by Everton 12p and Chelsea 11p in the 5th spot. When I look at the table, it really surprises me to see United in the 12th spot with only 7points. It’s early in the season and i expect United to turn it around and go on a nice streak soon.
Quick look back on the players I discussed last week – several performed very well. These players rolled up material points for you if you included them in your line ups.
- Artur Boruc (Southampton)-Keeper: Shut-out
- John Terry (Chelsea)-Defender: Goal
- Yaya Toure (Man City)-Midfield: Goal
- Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)-Midfield: Goal
Lets get to this weeks action. I’m going to discuss a few more players this week. Also, you might see some repeat players and that is due to the match-ups and if a player is hot, you just have to stay with him. But, before I do that, i just want to say thanks to StatClash once again for providing so many games for the EPL DFS action. The guys are just awesome over there.

Simon Mignolet (Liverpool) $25.50 Yes I’m starting out with high price Keeper. Liverpool has done well keeping goals out this year. On top of that Crystal Palace have not scored in their last 3 games.
David Marshall (Cardiff City) $21.00 Last 2 weeks, Marshall has done well with getting points. With Cardiff playing at home against a Newcastle team that is struggling a bit, Marshall is a good play.
Asmir Begovic (Stoke City) $23.00 This is a tough one. Most people probably won’t look here. I know Begovic hasn’t done well the last few weeks, but prior to that he was a very solid selection. Stoke is on the road at Fulham. Fulham hasn’t won since week 1 of the EPL season – and i know Stoke isn’t the greatest team either, but I feel they can get at least a draw in this spot.
Hugo Lloris (Tottenham) $24.50 After that tough draw last week with Chelsea, Tottenham is back at home against West Ham. West Ham has not been good on the road, so look for Lloris to have a good game at this week. Get him in your line up.
John Terry (Chelsea) $15.00 Here is a player from last weeks list. Once again, I love their match-up against Norwich City. He is a play maker and hopefully he will have some magic this weekend.
Leighton Baines (Everton) $22.00 Baines has been big in the backfield for Everton this season. Everton is going to need him to step it up this weekend as they travel to Manchester City. I fully expect a good game from Baines – you should, too.
Kyle Walker (Tottenham) $16.00 I like Walker at home this week against West Ham. Tottenham will be looking to get a victory this week after that tough draw last week. Walker has been a steady defender all season long and there’s absolutely no reason that doesn’t continue.
Jose Fonte (Southampton) $16.00 I wanted to find someone different, so that’s where this selection comes from. If you look at all of the top defenders, you’ll find that they are from major teams. I looked up Fonte and was surprised to see he is a steady defender. Not only that, Jose has scored this season and has an assist to boot. MIx in the fact that he’s also getting plenty of shots on net, playing against Swansea this weekend, you have to feel like he could have a great day.
Mesut Ozil (Arsenal) $23.00 Ozil has been playing well. He scored against Napoli in the Champions league this week. His performance in that game should carry over to this weekends game against West Brom.
Peter Whittingham (Cardiff City) $20.00 Whittingham has been up and down this season. He did record an assist in last weeks game. This week against Newcastle, I expect a good performance out of him.
Yaya Toure (Man City) $18.00 Had Toure on last weeks list and here he is again. Yes, I’m going back to the well. I mentioned when you have a hot player you need to play him. Toure has scored in City’s last 4 games and should keep it going this weekend against Everton.
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) $17.00 Here is a Midfielder at a very good price. I see other Midfielders that have higher prices and don’t boast the stats that Gerrard does. Gerrard picked up an assist last week, and with Suarez back, i look for Gerrard to start playing up to his capabilities.
Luis Suarez (Liverpool) $24.00 Suarez played in his 1st game last week since coming off of his 10 game suspension. Well guess what, he came back in a big way to score 2 goals. Playing in front of the home crowd this weekend, I expect Suarez to keep the motor humming along.
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) $23.00 Last week I debated on mentioning Rooney. I decided not to and went with RVP. Well, Rooney scored last week and just seems to be around the ball all the time. He is a natural striker and knows what to do with the ball once he gets it. Expect Rooney to have a good game this weekend. (Rooney didn’t play in the Champions league game this week)
Loic Remy (Newcastle) $20.00 Talk about a hot player, I don’t know if there’s anyone hotter. Remy has 3 goals in the last 2 EPL games, 9 Shots, 4 of them on goal, and 3 of them finding the back of the net. Pretty damn Awesome if you ask me (yeah, I capitalized the A). Newcastle is playing against Cardiff and I expect Remy to keep it rolling along.
Edin Dzeko (Manchester City) $18.50 Dzeko has been playing well this season. He has stepped it up another notch over the last few weeks as well. He has scored 3 goals in his last 4 games played. City has Everton at home this weekend and playing in front of the home crowd always helps.
Good Luck to Everyone this weekend. Should be a great weekend of soccer in the EPL. Join me at StatClash!
