Week 16 of the EPL season is here,it’s hard to believe we are 16 weeks in already. Jerzeydevil here with my weekly write up for you great soccer fans. The write up this week is for the EPL to SB Satellite (Step1) over at StatClash.  Remember you don’t have to join that contest, there are many other games on the board!  So with that, let’s get right into the selections that should put you in the money tomorrow afternoon.

Keepers:

PETR CECH (Chelsea) $24.25 Last week Cech had a terrible day that he will want to forget about. Chelsea lost to Stoke City 3-2. This is back to back EPL games that Cech let in 3 goals. I don’t see that happening 3 weeks in a row. This week Chelsea is at home hosting bottom dweller Crystal Palace. Look for Chelsea and Cech to rebound and have a great game.

TIM HOWARD (Everton) $23.00 I did a nice write up on Howard last week and he really didn’t have the greatest day in term of DFS points. He came up big for Everton in the draw they managed against Arsenal. Look for better numbers this week out of Howard. I’m expecting a big day for Everton as they play Fulham at home.

JUSSI JAASKELAINEN (West Ham) $22.75 I don’t believe I’ve ever mentioned Jaaskelainen before, I think I’d remember with a last name like that. The other reason is that West Ham isn’t having a good season at all. At this point they are fighting to stay in the EPL for next season. Jaaskelainen doesn’t have the greatest numbers so far this season, but if there is one game to play him, it would be this week. West Ham is at home against last place Sunderland.

Defenders:

ALEKSANDAR KOLAVOR (Manchester City) $17.00 2 weeks ago Kolavor had a great game on defense for Manchester City as they took down West Brom 3-2. In that game, Kolavor had 2 assist and 3 crosses filling the stat book. Last week he followed it up with another assist. Then this week against Bayern Munich in the Champions League game Kolavor found the back of the net. I’m going to ride him again in hopes of Kolavor having a big game for City against Arsenal.

BRYAN OVIEDO (Everton) $16.00 On Dec 4th Everton upset Manchester United thanks to a late Oviedo goal in the 86th min. The week before that, Oviedo had a goal and an assist in a blowout win over Stoke City. Seems like Oviedo is a big part of Everton’s defense. This is a great week to have him in the lineup as Everton host Fulham, who are bad this season.

MATHIEU DEBUCHY (Newcastle) $14.75 As you know, I look for defenders that can cross the ball well and ones that can shoot well. Debuchy can do both (he doesn’t always have great numbers and most defenders don’t). This week Newcastle is going to need their defense to hold up if they want to get 3 points at home against Southampton.

Midfield:

FRANK LAMPARD (Chelsea) $16.50 In the beginning of the season I had Lampard in one of my write ups and he didn’t do a thing at all for me. Well, I decided to look at what he has done lately and it’s been very good. Lampard has 3 goals and an assist over his last 5 games and he also has 8 shots on goal to go with 8 crosses. So Lampard has stepped up his game of late. Chelsea is hosting Crystal Palace, who are just terrible this year. This is a good game for Lampard to add to his totals.

YAYA TOURE (Manchester City) $18.50 Toure is one midfielder I enjoy watching. He has so much skill and can be explosive at times. Toure showed that 2 weeks ago as he recorded 2 goals for City, who held on for the victory against West Brom. Toure has 3 goals, 2 assist on 4 shots on goal over his last 5 games.City has a very tough game this week as they host Arsenal. City is 6 points out of 1st right now and would love to get 3 points to cut it in half. They will need the midfield to get it done.

MESUT OZIL (Arsenal) $22.00 Sometimes I hate lining up players against each other, but this is one game I don’t mind, as I believe we will all see a high scoring game. Ozil has been rock solid in the midfield for Arsenal. He has back to back EPL games with goals. In his last 3 games, Ozil has 2 goals and 2 assists. Just like the City players, Arsenal will need there midfield to step it up. I’m looking forward to watching this game!

Strikers:

SERGIO AGUERO (Manchester City) $22.50 Here is one striker that is just lighting it up lately. I know I have City players in every position, but it’s for a reason, they are all scoring right now. Aguero has scored in his last 2 EPL games – that puts him at 4 goals in his last 5 games. Like I said earlier, this game between City and Arsenal should have plenty of goals across 90 minutes of action.

JAY RODRIGUEZ (Southampton) $16.50 This is a tough one to go with. I try to keep decent diversity with my player selections, but at the same time, I want players that will score or get DFS points! Rodrigues seems to be doing it all lately. He has scored in 2 out of his last 3 games. For Southampton to have a chance this weekend on the road against Newcastle they will need him to step it up big for them.

PETER CROUCH (Stoke City) $14.50 Ok, I’m going out on a limb here. Crouch use to be a top notch striker and I believe he still can be that kind of weapon. The season is young and Crouch could find his old form again. Last week Crouch scored his 2nd goal of the season and played a major role in Stoke’s upset of Chelsea. This week they’re playing on the road against Hull City, which is a team that’s of the same caliber as Stoke. Crouch will make it 2 in a row.  Mark it down.

This concludes this weekends writeup. As always, I hope you find it helpful when putting your team together. Good luck & enjoy your weekend of EPL DFS Saturday at StatClash! -JD
