Daily Fantasy Rundown – February 28 NBA DFS Picks and Analysis

Welcome to Sunday’s edition of the Daily Fantasy Rundown with “dinkpiece”, “leonem” andTheNumbersGuy”. Each day throughout the NBA season our daily NBA scouting reports will highlight the best top, value and cheap plays of the day based on the Daily Fantasy Industry’s pricing for salary cap games.  Our goal is to bring analysis that will help you build rosters that put you in position to win consistently over the long term.

*Any time a player’s salary is reference as a discount or premium, it is relative to the average cost of a roster spot.

Point Guard – Our featured site for the point guard position is FanDuel

Top Plays:

Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook are off tonight, which means that Damian Lillard (POR) and Kyle Lowry (TOR) are our top projected scorers at the point guard position. Lillard draws a slightly favorable matchup against Indiana, a team that’s ranked 19th in defensive efficiency vs. PGs and eighth in pace, and his projected value is right around 45 Fantasy points. Lillard’s value thresholds around the industry are hovering in the mid 40s, so from a purely projection standpoint, Lillard should be able to meet value. He’s viable across all formats, but it’s Lowry that intrigues us the most if spending up for a point guard at the position. DeMar DeRozan missed Saturday’s practice with an illness, and if he’s out, Lowry’s FanDuel points per minute jumps to 1.32 with DeRozan off the floor (32.5 percent usage rate, 32.4 percent assist rate without DeRozan vs. 26.3 percent usage rate, 29 percent assist rate with DeRozan this season). With this boost in mind, the expected value for Lowry would jump to the high 40s, and his value threshold is sitting in the low 40s around the industry. Lowry becomes the best value play in this slate (despite the high salary) if DeRozan is out. If DeRozan plays, Lowry is still a worthwhile target in cash games, but his expected value would then fall a couple of points below Lillard’s, making Lillard the better option if paying up for a point guard.
