Daily Fantasy Rundown – February 29 NBA DFS Picks and Analysis

Welcome to Monday’s edition of the Daily Fantasy Rundown with “dinkpiece”, “leonem” and “TheNumbersGuy”. Each day throughout the NBA season our daily NBA scouting reports will highlight the best top, value and cheap plays of the day based on the Daily Fantasy Industry’s pricing for salary cap games.  Our goal is to bring analysis that will help you build rosters that put you in position to win consistently over the long term.

*Any time a player’s salary is reference as a discount or premium, it is relative to the average cost of a roster spot.

Point Guard – Our featured site for the point guard position is DraftKings

Top Play:

Russell Westbrook (OKC) – Westbrook projects as our top overall scorer on Monday’s slate which is loaded with stars and he projects comfortably ahead of the next group. The Kings are a premier matchup for point guards. They lead the league in pace but ran 24th in overall team defensive efficiency and 27th against the point guard position. The Kings allow the third highest percentage of transition plays and allow the fifth most points per possession on those play types. Westbrook’s dominance is largely through transition. He leads the league in transition possessions used and creates a very strong 1.16 points per transition possession used (61st percentile). The Thunder have an implied team total over 117 points and getting access to that team total should be a priority in cash games. Westbrook is the most direct source but Kevin Durant is a viable alternative as well. On a day where point guard values aren’t quite as deep as they usually are, the positional scarcity advantage for Durant isn’t as significant. As a result, our lean is towards Westbrook’s insanely high floor. As is typically the case, Westbrook’s appeal is a bit site dependent. On FanDuel, it’s not hard to roster Westbrook and still build a deep and competitive roster, but on DraftKings it’s a bit more difficult. DraftKings pricing has inflated cheap players and deflated stars, leaving the stars as very strong values. Ultimately when lineup building on DraftKings, we find ourselves waiting on news to establish how high up the pricing chain we can go to fill out a competitive roster. Westbrook represents our top priority on Monday, but we may need some news to unlock values to build a roster you’re comfortable with.
