COVID-19 is having its way with the NFL, as cases spiked significantly during the 12th week of the season. Frankly, there are now so many injuries and COVID-19 cases that we can finally write this article up position by position. Additionally, per Adam Schefter, there are some games in this main slate that will be moved to Monday and Tuesday. The Washington Football Team at Pittsburgh Steelers will now play on Monday, while the Baltimore Ravens at Dallas Cowboys will now play on Tuesday.

Tua Tagovailoa – Questionable due to a thumb injury

– Ryan Fitzpatrick

Head coach Brian Flores said that he doesn’t know whether Tua Tagovailoa will be ready to play by this Sunday. The offense has looked and played significantly better under Ryan Fitzpatrick, so Tua won’t be rushed to play is my guess.

Daniel Jones – Questionable due to a hamstring injury

– Colt McCoy

Daniel Jones isn’t a great passer but his rushing upside helps his Fantasy profile. McCoy would be a pretty clear downgrade regardless of matchup and the Giants get a great one against the Seattle Seahawks.

Nick Foles – Questionable due to a hip injury

– Mitch Trubisky

The Mitch Trubisky show went as expected last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers – this game was over by the end of the first half. Frankly, this Bears offense hasn’t performed well under Nick Foles either so there won’t be much of a change regardless of who starts.

Gardner Minshew – Questionable due to a thumb injury

– Mike Glennon

It’s Mike Glennon. He’s a perfect candidate to continue to lead the tanking season for the Jaguars but if Gardner Minshew is fully healthy he could get another chance.

Drew Brees – Still on IR due to his injured ribs

– Taysom Hill

The latest update on Drew Brees is he could have a realistic chance at suiting up in week 15. Taysom Hill will remain the starter until Brees is back.

Running Back

Josh Jacobs – Questionable due to an ankle injury

– Devontae Booker

– Jalen Richard (didn’t play last week due to a non-COVID illness)

Josh Jacobs is dealing with a sprained ankle. This isn’t a significant injury but if it leads to Jacobs not being able to practice he’d be very much in danger of missing week 13. If Jacobs is out, Devontae Booker would likely handle the majority of the backfield work. He’s been priced up a little bit for this potential opportunity but he’ll project well regardless. Jalen Richard is his main threat and could get a fair bit of work on third downs.

D’Andre Swift – Questionable due to a concussion

– Adrian Petterson

– Kerryon Johnson

James Conner – Placed on COVID-19 list

– Benny Snell Jr.

– Anthony McFarland

The Pittsburgh Steelers have yet to play their week 12 game yet as it was moved again to this upcoming Wednesday. The expectation is that Benny Snell Jr. will lead the Steelers’ backfield for at least one week but could make it two if Conner isn’t activated for next Monday’s game.

Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed – Questionable (Gaskin wasn’t activated off IR; Ahmed is dealing with a shoulder injury)

– DeAndre Washington

– Matt Breida

Washington played the most snaps out these fringe options in week 12 with Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed out. In that game against the New York Jets, DeAndre Washington generated 13 carries and 5 targets to lead this backfield. If Gaskin and Ahmed are active in week 13, Washington and Matt Breida will return to their normal roles as depth options and the former two could cannibalize their opportunities enough where no one ends up projecting well.

Jonathan Taylor – Placed COVID-19 list

– Nyheim Hines

– Jordan Wilkins

Nyheim Hines played 65% of snaps while Jordan Wilkins played 35% of snaps in week 12 against the Tennessee Titans. If Taylor remains out in week 13, we’d expect a similar timeshare once again.

Tyler Ervin is dealing with injuries to his wrist and ribs and is questionable to play this week (didn’t play last week). A.J. Dillon has returned to the Packers’ facility but continues to “work his way through COVID-19 protocols” and there’s no timeline for his return. If both of these players remain out, Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams will continue to see all of the backfield work for the Packers.

Wide Receiver

Will Fuller V – Suspended for rest-of-season for violating the NFL’s performance enhancing substances policy

– Brandin Cooks

– Keke Coutee

– Jordan Akins

Brandin Cooks, Keke Coutee and Isaiah Coulter are the only healthy wide receivers in a Texans’ uniform. Randall Cobb will be out for at least two more games. Cooks will flirt with market share of targets in the high 20s for ROS while Coutee will be in play for the foreseeable future while his price tag is down. This upcoming matchup against the Indianapolis Colts is a tough one but Coutee is just $3,500 on DraftKings. We’d also expect tight Jordan Akins to receive a boost in opportunity out of necessity and he’s $2,900 on DraftKings this week. Overall, this is a tough blow for a Texans’ offense that had to endure the departure of DeAndre Hopkins in the offseason and seemed to have figured it out of late.

Adam Thielen – Placed on COVID-19 list

– Justin Jefferson

– Chad Beebe

Adam Thielen was placed on the COVID-19 list last week and his head coach already said that he expects him to play this week. IF Thielen remains out, Justin Jefferson will remain the WR1 in this offense. Chad Beebe played 47.8% of snaps in week 12 with Thielen out and turned 7 targets into a 7-63-1 receiving line. The matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 13 is a great one for these receivers as they’ve allowed the eight most Fantasy Points to the wide receiver position.

Julio Jones – Questionable due to a hamstring injury; Olamide Zaccheaus is also questionable due a toe injury

– Calvin Ridley

– Russell Gage

– Christian Blake

Julio Jones was inactive in week 12 due to this hamstring injury and as expected, Calvin Ridley was the most targeted player in a Falcons’ uniform. With Olamide Zaccheaus leaving the game early due to a toe injury, Christian Blake ended up playing 64% of the snaps while Gage played 88% of snaps. Ridley would be the main benefactor IF Jones remains out while Zaccheaus (or Blake potentially if the latter is out) would emerge as a  viable punt play if he ends up active.

Kenny Golladay  – Questionable due to a hip injury; Danny Amendola is also questionable due to a hip injury

– Marvin Jones Jr.

– T.J. Hockenson

– Marvin Hall

– Mohamed Sanu

D.J. Chark Jr. – Questionable due to a rib injury; Chris Conley is also questionable due to a hip injury

– Laviska Shenault Jr.

– Collin Johnson (played 80% of snaps in week 12 with Chark Jr. out)

– Keelan Cole Sr.

Larry Fitzgerald (COVID-19 list) and Adam Humphries (Concussion) are also questionable to play this week.

Tight End

Zach Ertz (close to being activated from IR) and Irv Smith Jr. (groin) are questionable to play this week. With Smith Jr. out in week 12, Kyle Rudolph saw a season high 8 targets with the Vikings playing from behind for most of the game.
