MLB DFS GPP Recap: There’s a Snake in My Boot

I bet that prior to opening this, you just half-expected it to be another recap of some old broadway musical. Luckily though, the Yankees snapped their crazy Tuesday scoring streak and instead, the D’Backs put a bunch of snakes in peoples’ boots (that’s a great line from an even better movie, Toy Story).

The contributions came from a variety of players last night and were highlighted by the guys that made the “top performers” table below.

Player

Statline

DK Points

FD Points

Madison Bumgarner   1W, 12K, 1ER, 9IP, 5HA, 1CG        45.75 24
Jarrod Saltalamacchia      2R, 1H, 1HR, 1R, 1RBI 18 7.25
Lorenzo Cain 2R, 4H, 1 2B, 1HR, 1RBI 27 11
David Peralta 1R, 2H, 1HR, 5 RBI 25 10.5

There were a few different aces that took the mound last night, and you’ll notice below that all three had some sort of ownership amongst tournament winning lineups. The beauty about winning tournaments though, is that you have to hit at nearly every position. The guys below did just that.

After scrolling through the teams, I’m sure you think there was some sort of typo or glitch that kept entering “quietstormnl’s” lineup into all of the winning spots. Well…guess again. In one of the most dominating nights of the season, quietstormnl edged out essentially everyone on FanDuel, taking down all three of the major tournaments with one fell swoop.

What about his lineup was so much crazier than the rest? Nothing really. In fact, his lineup construction strategy seemed to be fairly simple. He used a top arm, with a two team stack (D’Backs and Royals) and he happened to hit the nail on the head.

As for those on DraftKings, the story was similar. It took Madison Bumgarner paired with some Diamondbacks to make the magic happen.

One thing that I thought was interesting thanks to the lineups from last night was the “throw in” player from the winning lineups. On FanDuel and DraftKings, while you can stack multiple players from one team, you’re required to take some players from a different game, or team, based on the site rules. For some full stacks on DraftKings, this requires essentially a random “throw in” player. If a full stack hits, and you get the “throw in” right, you probably had yourself a heck of a night. Luckily for a lot of lineups, that “throw in” was Lorenzo Cain, who played anything like the last guy you’d select for your lineup.

Congratulations to all the winners, and a Furious hat tip to “quietstormnl.”
