Friday night basketball is back and it comes at us with a great nine-game slate. This slate might be as important as any as we are mere days away from Valentine’s Day. Yes, you forgot, and yes you’re now going to need to win more money to express ship those orders. Prepare for those flowers to be marked up more than a James Harden hot streak!
Let’s get into the great action we’ll be seeing on FantasyDraft tonight…
The Nuggets vs. Knicks game is exactly where you should start tonight, as it’s total is easily the highest of the slate (227.5). The first player to target here is Nikola Jokic ($16,900). Jokic’s matchup against the Knicks is one he will dominate just like earlier in the year when he generated 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in just 20 minutes of action. The Knicks have lost five of their last six and in their last game gave up a combined 60 points and 23 rebounds to Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.
Kenneth Faried will be out for this one against the Knicks and because of that Wilson Chandler ($13,300) and Will Barton ($12,000) see their stock rise. With Faried out, Kristaps Porzingis ($13,000) could have some fun tonight. The Nuggets’ lineup will likely be smaller, giving Porzingis a chance to really dominate from everywhere on the court.
Jeff Teague ($14,400) is playing some great basketball these days and is coming off what might have been his best game of the season (22/5/14). The price is pretty steep on FantasyDraft, but he’s been great against the Wizards this season averaging 21 points, 3 rebounds and 10.5 assists in two games against them.
Brandon Ingram ($8,700) has seen an uptick in minutes over the last three games and has performed quite well with them. Over those three games he has averaged 26.25 Fantasy points. He should continue to see similar minutes against a Bucks team that is playing in their first game without Jabari Parker.
Tarik Black ($7,700) is another one of the younger Lakers’ players seeing more minutes in recent action. This is a riskier selection as Black will start this game, but could potentially see no more than 20-22 minutes. The upside is there though as the Bucks have struggled against big men recently and there’s no reason for the Lakers to keep holding Black’s minutes back.
Last week Ish Smith ($7,300) was a great play for us and it’s time to go back to this well again. He’ll log 20 minutes against the Spurs tonight with more potentially if the Pistons just don’t show up.
Even with Smith’s minutes capped around 20 he has been quite effective. He has generated 22.5 Fantasy points or better in five of his last six games and provides nice salary relief.
Finish off your lineups tonight with a little bit of Heat! Miami players like Goran Dragic ($14,600) and Hassan Whiteside ($15,700) have a great matchup (Brooklyn) and have performed very well in February.
