PickChamps: An Overview
I’m here to introduce you to PickChamps, a brand new Daily Fantasy Sports site with a serious twist. PickChamps throws away the classic “team building” aspect of Daily Fantasy Sports (selecting a QB, WR, RB, etc.), and instead, lets you make prop picks based on predicting player statistics.
Your success in the game is not reliant on the overall performance of particular players, but whether those players meet the specific statistical predictions that you set forth. Thus, this site is a true dream for DFS fanatics with a knack for player stats.
How Does It Work?
Instead of a salary, you begin with 100 points that you can allocate toward making picks. You can spend between 5 and 25 points per pick you make. When you make your prop pick, you’ll be given an “offer” based on the likeliness that the statistic you predicted will come true.
For example, if you receive a 5 point offer on a particular pick, and you spend 10 points on the pick, you’ll win 50 points if the pick is correct. The size of the offer depends on how risky the pick is – the riskier the pick, the higher the return. The goal is to rack up the most points possible to finish highest amongst the leaderboard.
There are two types of picks you can make: statistic picks and head-to-head picks. Statistic picks allow you to make picks based on whether a player or pair of players will achieve a particular statistic. An example of this would be: Tom Brady will throw for at least 300 yards this week.
Head-to-head picks are made on two players you’ve matched against each other, attempting to predict which one will have more or less of a particular statistic. An example of this: DeMarco Murray will have more rushing yards than Adrian Peterson.
You’ll need to make at least 3 picks across 3 games for an eligible entry. Just make your picks and pay attention to the leaderboard to see if your stat predictions have paid off.
PickChamps is one of the only DFS sites around that has abandoned the traditional “salary cap” aspect. You can use your 100 points in many different ways: either making less picks by spending more of your points on each one, or making an abundance of picks by spending less of your points on each one.
Another exciting feature that PickChamps offers are “Pre-Pick” and“Live-Pick” contests. In a Pre-Pick format, all picks must be made before the contest starts. However, in “Live-Pick, entrants can make picks throughout the contest. After you receive points back for making correct picks, you’ll be able to re-invest those points in future games to continuously increase your point total.
Yet another intriguing component of PickChamps is its multi-sport contests. As the NBA season gets underway and the NHL and NFL seasons continue to roll, contests will be available where entrants can make picks involving more than one sport. This means that you can make picks involving Julio Jones, Kevin Durant, and Alex Ovechkin all in one contest. The possibilities are truly endless at PickChamps.
Site and App
The PickChamps website layout is both familiar and simple, making it easily navigable for users to enter contests of their choice. Contests can be sorted by sport, entry fee, Pre-Pick vs. Live-Pick, and more. All of these features are also available on
the PickChamps mobile app, which is free, simple, and quick to use.
What to Watch for
PickChamps is improving their product every week, refining the game to make it more accessible, fun, and exciting. Customer feedback is incredibly important to their team, and they’ve been looking to improve based on the interests of their players.
Right now, PickChamps is running “Everybody Wins” contests. In these contests, even the last place entrant wins back double their entry fee (with the potential to win much more). It’s a truly profitable promotion, so we suggest cashing in immediately. Just don’t be surprised to be re-investing those winnings soon after, as PickChamps offers a unique style of gameplay that will have you hooked.
