Cole Hamels ($8,400) – I’d love to take Clayton Kershaw, but there is a slight problem. He’s going against Madison Bumgarner on the road. That’s about as toss-up as you can get, so I’d rather turn to Hamels and the -200 money line that comes with the Rangers. Derek Norris is pitching for the Tigers, and even with an 8.5 O/U, the projected run total for the Tigers is still under three thanks to that huge line. The Rangers are big favorites and fighting for the playoffs. The Tigers? Eh, they’re just giant docile cats at this point.
Bryce Harper ($6,000) – In case you don’t remember how bad Matt Wisler is against lefties, let me remind you. They have a .348 AVG, .617 SLG%, .449 wOBA and a 6.64 xFIP against Wisler. It’s bad… really bad. In fact, Wisler’s K-BB% is -4.6 against lefties! Stack the Nats lefties, and start it off with Harper.
Yoenis Cespedes ($5,300) – Cespedes takes the righty/lefty matchup and flips it. He’s actually much better against righties, with a .314 AVG, 149 wRC+ and .918 OPS as opposed to .219, 96 and .727 against lefties. Dave Buchanan stinks. No really, he does. He has a 7.96 ERA with 1.42 HR/9 and is just as bad at home or away and versus lefties or righties. The Mets have one of the highest projected run totals today, and Cespedes will be a part of that.
Anthony Rizzo ($5,400) – Another terrible pitcher is Josh Smith. He too has an ERA north of seven at 7.23 with 1.52 HR/9. He’s a bit worse at home (but really, at that level, who cares) but much worse to lefties. They hit .359 with a .692 SLG% and .492 wOBA against him versus just .268/.400/.336 for righties. The Cubs should score plenty, even from some of their right-handed bats, but Rizzo is easily the best play in this game.
River Card (cheap option to make lineup work)
Ender Inciarte ($4,850) – One thing we know about Inciarte is that he hits righties really well. Inciarte has a .331 AVG with a .356 wOBA, 121 wRC+ and all six of his homers off righties. The Diamondbacks are projected to crush the Rockies tonight with Christian Bergman and his .357 AVG, .606 SLG% and .424 wOBA against lefties on the mound.
