Spoiler Alert: Tidbits from this article were taken out of so-called season spoiler articles so do not read on if averse to that sort of information

Introduction

On Wednesday night, FanDuel will be running a freeroll for the newest episode of Survivor Season 40. The contest will be run a bit like a showdown slate with five total roster spots with one of those being an MVP spot. The MVP will be rewarded 1.5x their actual points across the board so a negative will get enhanced as well which is part of the strategy. Here is how the scoring works:

Notice that surviving the week alone results in points and the largest source of negative points comes from getting voted off. In other words, amongst the most important aspects of the scoring system is just having your cast member survive the week.

The issue with this game is there are all sorts of supposed spoilers for the show out on the internet and it is difficult to tell which (if any) are credible. People will likely be using their respective sources and the most accurate will win. Regardless, this contest is a freeroll, so it is not like there is a financial penalty to not having ample inside information. Without further ado, DailyRoto analyst Ricky Sanders attempts to identify cast members worth rostering in FanDuel’s upcoming freeroll:

This Week

For the last time this season, FanDuel will be offering a “Reality Survival Season 40” contest in what will be the season finale. At this point, there arer only five cast members left: Tony, Sarah, Michele, Ben and Denise. Furthermore, the episode is expected to begin with the Edge of Extinction challenge where a player will re-join the game and once again have a shot at $2,000,000! All the storylines will get solved this week so this should be an action-packed ending to an exciting 40th season!

MVP

Tony – With this week being the finale, fantasy owners are simply going to have to select the player they expect to win the season in the MVP spot. “Winning Survivor” is worth the most points of any single action so the winner of the season almost assuredly will score the most fantasy points in the episode. All season long, a spoiler article from hype.my has speculated a male whose name begins with “T” wins the season, and Tony has been simply spectacular. Despite winning multiple immunity challenges, Tony has maintained strong allegiances with most of the field, which is the reason his peers have not acted on voting him off the island. Tony is expensive as hell but is the definition of a must-play as he is the clear favorite to cruise to victory.

Castaways

Natalie – Amongst those on the Edge of Extinction, Natalie has racked up by far the most fire tokens (a whopping 14!), along with an immunity token, which has earned her multiple advantages in the upcoming challenge to return to the game. Spoiler articles have predicted her return to the island since the beginning and, considering her current position, it is easy to see why. Once Natalie returns to the island, she will be able to compete in immunity challenges, and will likely be the focus of multiple interviews (which result in 0.6 fantasy points each). Additionally, the joy of returning to the island may result in her crying, which is also a positive fantasy outcome (0.8 fantasy points). At just $18, Natalie is the obvious top value on the slate.

Michele – Over the course of the past month or so, Michele‘s storylines have sort of taken a backseat, at least up until last week when she won the immunity challenge. Sarah has been a vocal opponent to Tony’s two-faced nature while Michele has acted like an ally and remained incognito. Both strategies have obviously been merited considering each is still in the game but Sarah is more likely to become Tony’s enemy. The expected final three is therefore likely to be Tony, Natalie and Michele, which means those are the three you need to build around. All other players will be questionable in their ability to rack up fantasy points and it is impossible to fit the expected final four into the same lineup together.

Boston Rob – Deciding on the final roster spot is no different than picking out of a hat as the optimal fourth cast member will depend on who uses fire tokens, participates in interviews and potentially even cries. Other than Natalie, Danni has accumulated the most fire tokens of those on the Edge of Extinction, and she will need to use those to gain advantages in the final challenge. Unfortunately, using fire tokens no longer results in fantasy points in and of itself, so that piece of information is essentially useless. Boston Rob has been a vocal member of the Edge of Extinction since getting voted off the island, and his wife is on the island as well, so he could at least contribute to some storylines. As a YOLO GPP play, you could do worse.

Most Likely to Be Eliminated: Everyone But Tony
