I’m Drew Dinkmeyer and I’m asking for your help this Fantasy Football season. Many of you know me as a professional daily fantasy sports player or perhaps a DFS content provider here at DailyRoto, or maybe even someone who enjoys puns and word play on twitter. These are the things that take up most of my time and while I enjoy all of it immensely, it’s not exactly moving the needle on making the world a better place. So… this year I’ve decided to put my word play to better use and start a campaign for charity: water called the Welly-Maker.

For those that are unfamiliar with charity: water, they’re an organization dedicated to bringing clean water to people in need. I came across their work last year when the founder Scott Harrison appeared on Bill Simmons podcast explaining their mission and their process. They’ve developed an incredible system where 100% of all donations go directly to funding water projects around the world and so far they’ve funded over 20,000 water projects delivering clean water to over 7 million people around the world. Clean water is something many of us take for granted but many people around the world don’t have immediate access to clean water. Every day approximately 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. charity: water works with local partners to find simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections, and BioSand filters that can help provide sustainable clean water solutions to local communities.

On average about $30 can give a person who previously didn’t have access to clean water, access for the rest of their lives. On average a clean water project can be completed for between $10,000-$25,000 dollars and my goal with this campaign is to raise enough money for at least one fully funded water project. I believe the Fantasy sports community has a big heart and a willingness to give. We’ve seen this with Scott Fish’s Fish Bowl leagues that raise money for toys for tots. We saw it last year in the DFS and Poker space with Dan Smith raising an incredible 1.7 million dollars to an array of charities. These leaders, the community at large, and charity: water have all inspired me to start this campaign!

The theme of the campaign is to inspire those playing in any of the big DFS tournaments with a million dollar first place prize to donate the equivalent of one entry ($20 for the DK milly maker, $7 for the FD Sunday Million). Instead of throwing one additional lineup for a chance to change your life, donate that one entry for a guarantee at changing someone else’s! If we can get 500 players to donate a $20 entry, we’ll have given a village access to clean water for a lifetime! Additionally, I will personally match the first $10,000 in donations. So for every dollar you’re contributing, we’ll have twice the impact! Not only does 100% of the donations go directly to funding these water projects but charity: water does a tremendous job at keeping you informed of the donation going to work. Everyone who contributes to this campaign will get updates when the projects begin with pictures and GPS coordinates so we can track the difference we’re helping charity: water make.

DailyRoto will donate 10% of NFL sales made with the promocode “charitywater”

I’m really excited to start this campaign and watch our community show off it’s capacity to give. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated and if you’re willing to spread the word please share this link and the message on social media. The campaign will run through the end of September and we have links below that will take you to our campaign, charity: water’s website, and the podcast that Scott Harrison did with Bill Simmons that inspired me so much.

Let’s make this a great Fantasy Football season!
