December 28, 2013 | MGM Grand Garden Arena | Las Vegas, Nevada
Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET
Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva for UFC middleweight title
I do not expect this fight to play out like the last but I do see similar results coming out of this fight. I expect Silva to come out to a fast start trying to pick Weidman apart on the feet, however Silva’s one weakness is his takedown defense vs high level wrestlers. I think Weidman will be able to take Silva down, mix in some ground and pound and avoid Silva’s strengths in route to a decision victory.
WEIDMAN VIA DECISION
Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate for women’s bantamweight title
This should be an easy fight in my opinion. Tate has a slight advantage in stand up but I do not expect it to stay standing for very long. Once on the ground Ronda will throw up numerous submission attempts before locking in her usual arm bar to win via submission.
ROUSEY VIA SUB ROUND 1
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
This should be a great fight in which Browne has a significant advantage on his feet and Barnett looking to test the unproven ground game of Browne. I am leaning towards Barnett in this fight because of his toughness and grappling prowess however I could see Browne fending off some takedowns and picking Barnett apart on the feet.
BARNETT VIA DECISION
Fabricio Camoes vs. Jim Miller
This is a perfect matchup for Miller, he is the far better stand up fighter and has enough skill in the grappling aspect of the fight to counter Camoes strengths. I look for Miller to start fast and light Camoes up on the feet, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a stoppage in this fight but I think a decision is the more likely outcome.
MILLER VIA DECISION
Diego Brandao vs. Dustin Poirier
This is an interesting fight that can really go either way since both fighters are good on their feet and on the ground. However, I think the most interesting aspect of the fight is the fact that Poirier has a 9 inch reach advantage. With Brandao looking for a knockout blow early in the fight this reach advantage the Poirier has he can possibly stall out Brandao’s attack without taking much damage. I look for Poirier to pick Brandao apart in the later rounds to earn a decision.
POIRIER VIA DECISION
FOX Sports 1, 8 p.m. ET
Uriah Hall vs. Chris Leben
Hall is by far the more technical fighter and while Leben could land that huge knockout blow that he possesses I see Hall dominating this fight and earning a decision.
HALL VIA DECISION
Michael Johnson vs. Gleison Tibau
Johnson’s takedown defense has lacked at times and if that is the case here he will be on the losing end of this contest. Tibau is the bigger fighter and has been very good in the past using that size advantage. I look for Tibau to take Johnson down and grind out a decision.
TIBAU VIA DECISION
Manny Gamburyan vs. Dennis Siver
This is a dangerous fight for Manny, he won’t be able to get Siver to the ground and Siver is far superior on the feet. I see Siver picking manny apart on the feet before earning a TKO victory in round 2.
SIVER VIA TKO ROUND 2
Siyar Bahadurzada vs. John Howard
I think Howard will us a similar game plan that Dong Hyun Kim used in Siyar’s last match. He should come out and take Siyar straight to the ground where he has been known to struggle. From there Howard will be able to stay out of trouble and grind out a decision.
HOWARD VIA DECISION
